Oil cooler for 4PT

Please can anyone tell me how to fit an external oil cooler on a 4PT with a bypass facility. I read somewhere that you can do it with one from a 2CV.

Many thanks, Finian

Hi
First of all you dont need one - modern oil will happily run at temps well above the point at which an XT will give up.
But if you insist then the neatest oil cooler around is the XR400 item that wraps round the lower headstock bearing.
I used this cooler on Andy Winterbournes TT600 that was used for the Optic 2000 desert rally (flat out in sand in mid Summer in north Africa) and there were plenty of other TTs that did not have one and had no overheating problems.

Ok, thanks, won't bother then.

Ha ha! DL to the rescue again. I currrently have the tank and front fairing including dash and lights off my 3AJ, and was considering taking this opportunity to replace the Mk1 (small) oil cooler with a Mk2 or 2CV version.

I will be riding through Libya and Egypt in July/August. It seems I may get away with the current cooler - which works a bit *too* well in a British winter - and some decent quality oil.

By the way, I had the genius idea of painting the underside of my tank with extremely reflective, heat and water/fule/rust proof silver Hammerite paint! Yippee! Another 12 years with no leaks I think...
