Newbie! Help needed to identify a XT600 Acerbis tank??

Morning all and a Happy New Year, stumbled across the site whilst looking for some info on a tank, I am now looking forward to trawling through!!! it looks like a great forum:thumbup1:

I was looking for some info on identifying which year this tank that I ve got is from. I believe it to be an Acerbis and there are a few marking on it:-

TU14290787 , FUSION, 94, NL-B-BRD..................

Ive checked the acerbis website and trawled through the web but nothing so far,

There are no fittments for any type of bracketry etc on the tank, it has the same pick ups for the frame mount as my xt350 .I bought it from ebay to to try and fit to the 350 but it didnt look quite right! and I would have had to move the 2 rubber pick ups back in the frame.
The sole mounting bolt at the back end also would have picked up on the frame of the 350,.
There are no other pick ups for the seat etc, it must rest on the tank.

Before I sell it on I want to make sure that I am advertising it as the right tank for the right bike.

Any help would be appreciated.

We must have been posting at the same time Martyn, I was searching FAQ on how to post pics and I wondered if I just copied and paste, so copied the pics that I had and pasted them, and I think it has worked. But I will sign up fo the photobucket.

That looks very similar to an acerbis tank I was given. It was to fit possibly pre 98 XTs. I fitted it to my 2003 bike by trimming the plastics. The funny thing about the tank was it came with two adapters that relocated the positioning of the rubber frame mounts. You say yours doesn't have these and also doesn't fit your bike because of the positioning of these mounts. It is possible that you could fit the tank if you had these adapters I suppose. The tank I had is long gone, but I THINK I still have the adapters. If you think this might solve your problem (and I can find them!) you are welcome to them.
Would you like me to have a look and see if I can dig them out?

Matt :)

Matt,

I tried to PM you but I need 8 posts to PM, I really would appreciate if you wounldnt mind having a look for the adapter kit and if you come acoss it give me a shout.
I have sent my frame for powder coating and i decided before it went that i wounldnt weld or modify it, therefore I was going to sell the tank but if I could get it to fit I would be chuffed.

I had quick look at your page and noticed you were travelling during 2006 are you back home now? and if so whats it like being back?

The reason im asking is because i took a year out in 2003 and traveled around oz with my better half and had a ball although it would have been better on a bike! and probably on a bike on my own!!!!!!!!! no offence to my missus but a trip like that would have been sublime on a bike solo!!

cheers and all the best

That tank look's like a XT600e model fitment.

acerbis

from what I found there was someone having it installed on a Tenere' , see

Geländemaschinen, Enduros Kleinanzeigen bei Quoka - neu und gebraucht kaufen und verkaufen

auction finished long ago, can find only in google cache.

Definitely not an XT600E model, have it on my bike, is similar but different (can easily see no label space as in XT600E model)
I have 1990\94 model, following xt600E acerbis model is completely different.

I had a look and still have them. The chances of it fitting your 350 are probably slim to be honest but there is no point in keeping them as I now have the correct Acerbis tank for my bike.
If you make another couple of posts then PM me your address I will post them out to you.

What's it like being back?...er...HARD! It OK though, I often think back to specific moments of the trip and it helps get me through the day! It will be a while before I get to go away on a biggie again, but keep myself going with short trips!

Deja Vue

It looks exactly like one that I bought on ebay last year; it definitely didn't fit my 2001 Yam TT600R, so I sold it again, via Ebay, to someone in Scotland - Ayrshire from memory - are you that guy??! (bought from Germany, so I lost a few bob, mainly on the postage charge).

Yep it truly is a small world; good luck in finding the tank that you want.

I guess someone will find out what bike that tank fits!! :rolleyes2: (and it keeps the post office turning over).
