New sump guard XTZ660 tenere 08

Hi

What is recommended by fellow members as a decent sump guard for xtz - any to avoid in other words. I am fitting SW-Motech crash bars but have been told that the standard plastic sump guard will not be good enough for Morocco ?

The Guard It Tech sump guard from Adventure Spec in the UK, for me is the best available but does cost 200 quid so not cheap, dont know if it will fit with the SW Motech crash bars??

Hi Calum, i bought a used sump guard from ebay last summer but it could not be used with the Yamaha engine bars i have fitted. it is a well known name (just not to me at this moment). if you are interested let me know and i will give you further info. The standard plastic sump guards are pretty good (i also have a spare one). Andy

I'd give a vote for the Guard It Tech guard. Nicely made and comes high enough to protect the water pump. Bottom of plate is smooth with no protrusions making it very stable when on a work stand. Afraid I can't comment on compatibility with engine bars though.
