Neutral Switch

Hi again,

Well my bike passed it's MOT first time, but on the ride over i noticed most of the dash lights didn't work, nor did the speedo, and it turns out the rev counter cable just isn't there at all.

I've fixed the lights, and i think the speedo, and will fit the new tacho cable once i find a replacement screw for the engine casing, but i'm stuck at the neutral light.

I know the bulb is fine, and i know the bulb wiring has continuity, which makes me suspect the switch.

I've read through the manual for the older kick start xt600 and for the XT600e, where both of them show the neutral switch on the near side pointing across to the offside, but i can't find that on my xt600z. The only electrical connection i can find is partly obscured by the clutch cable.

Can anyone tell me if this is the neutral switch?

I'd hate to destroy the cam chain timing or something else important while goofing around. A pic of it would be even better for the inept but keen like me.

hi roamer if you remove the gear lever and sprocket cover you will see the switch on my 43f it is just in front of the gear lever shaft with a single blue wire atached. if you remove the wire and earth it out the neutral light should light ,conferming a duff switch ,if this is the case try removing switch and cleaning the end that go,s in the engine and the wire connection . also make sure the bulb holder is ok and not coroded .if all this fails you my have a wiring problem . good look zigzag:thumbup1:

Found it

Thanks Zigzag, i'd been looking for that for days. Cable has continuity so i'll order another switch.
