neutral light malfunction

ok, so lately my bike has been giving me a bit of trouble, now its the neutral light indicator.
when ever i start my bike the neutral selector light isnt coming on so i have to pull my clutch in when i start the bike..

so ive got one hand pulling in the clutch lever ,the other on the starter and im pulling the choke out with my teeth... which makes me look like a d*ckhead..
the light will generally come on once the bike has warmed up a bit, but cuts in and out very sporadically...
im assuming my neautral light mechanism needs some TLC , is it located in the gearbox?...thanks people...phil.

Hi Phil

This is an easy one. The neutral switch is faulty - I've had to change mine once. It screws into the engine just beside the gear selector pedal. Have a look ans you'll see a small wire clipped onto the top of it. Simply screw it out and put a new one in. I haven't the part no. to hand but it's on that CD I'm sure.
I can't remember but I think it was either £7 or £11 UK money.

Found it !

The number of the switch is
2H7-82540-00

and the number of the sealing washer is
90430-10171

but if I remember rightly a lot of Yamaha models use the same switch so you could even find one handy enough at a breakers.
