Need an XT600E Rim in North America!

Hi Yamaha Guru's

My friends Nevil & Ulf are on their RTW trip, raising money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and MS Research. They are currently in Ulaanbaatar:

Round the World 2013 on motorbikes

Ulf (Milan_ here on the HUBB) dented his front rim quite badly on a pothole, he can limp around in Asia for a while, but when he gets here to North America this rim will not be safe at highway speeds to cross Canada

Does anyone know if a rim/hub off a bike sold in North America will fit onto his 2000 XT600E 3UX - 014 222
Front wheel rim 21 x 1.85 (steel)
Part No. 94418-21492 (this part is the rim only!)

Anyone use a different rim OR complete wheel that fits on an XT600E?

I see that the WR250 and the YZ use a 1.60 rim

Thanks in Advance

Yamaha xtz660 (the old ones from the 90's) have the same front wheel, just in alu.

Hi Jens,

Thanks for the info, is the hub/disc mounting the same for the XT600E?

I am hoping to find something in Canada so we can do a direct swop for Ulfs bike.

You could just buy a new rim of the same size and have it spoked to the hub.

Lot's of people make rims.

It won't be very cheap but he could get an Excel Rim which would be a nice upgrade to the bike. It would be lighter and not corrode.

The whole wheel is bolt on, disc, caliper, hub ect is the same.

But yeah, a new rim should be fairly easy to source, if youre spokes are fine. BUt you cant just use any rim. The holes in different rims are drilled at different angles. Some companies have equipment to drill undrilled rims.

Anyway, its a 36 hole rim, så that's a start.

Hi
The XT600E was sold in the USA on the ‘90s (I think on 1993 at least) only some minor changes with the Japanese/European model as the indicators for laws reasons.
Steel Rims were exactly the same I believe that all models from the E, older XTs have Alu ones.
Anyway and as Ted says could be a good upgrade, to just change both Rims for the Excels or other aftermarket brands like SunRims that are good too and cheaper maybe. A quick search on Google and I got you a specialist company in California (maybe a good entry spot for your friend) who sale it and can make the job. Buchanan Spokes - SunRims

Thanks for the replies guys,

Im trying to source something cheap for Ulf, these boys are near the end of their RTW and im sure the bank accounts are drained, I will look on Ebay for a 660 wheel, they will be coming home through Vacouver/Seattle probably, so hopefully I can find something in Canada or close to the border.

I will also ask a couple of places in calgary this weekend.

Many Thanks

Search for the XT 600 I believe years since 1986 to 1995 (sold in US market) are all the same front wheels!

Brakedisc is smaller, so you need to swap with Old, also The bolts that mounts the discs are different
