Need Help? is she broken?

Hi

So I went riding with a bunch friends one day, i rode my husaberg and my friend (he's first ride) rode the XT. I started the bike for him and left the choke out, and when i got the bike back at the end of the day, it was spluttering no end. After a brief check, i saw that the choke is still out. The choke was out the whole day......

I parked the bike, and a week later i tried to start the bike it was dead and when i finally got it to start it spluttered and died.

Now my battery is flat, when i kick, there is no fire, when i roll start, it kinda makes a du du du du and dies.

What does a choke out ride do?
Can it be that the sparkplug is fizzled? Dirty Carburator?

I tried to remove the sparkplug, but I'm sure they had little children put it in cause i can't get my hand in there,

How do i remove the sparkplug without taking a jigsaw to the frame in frustration? (i have no tools that came with the bike, what should i buy to do this?)

Can use jumper cables from a car on the bike battery? so i don't have to run start the bastard?

What can i do????????? and I'm open1minded, if i have to give her a rubdown and a Pina Colada, I'll do it1

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!
Thanks

Another Thing

Working the bike, i tipped it over a bit, and fuel was piss out of it, with some effort, i saw a little black rubber pipe that comes out of the top of the carb(not going anywhere, about 20cm long and just hanging there) raining fuel, i assume this is an overflow pipe or something? is this normal, should that pipe go somewhere or am i right with my assumption that is indeed an overflow pipe?

Greetings from Izmir, Turkey.

Start with the spark plug. Sometimes a new spark plug is enough in such a case.

You need to remove the left hand air scoop first and it will require a long body 14mm wrench to take the SP out. Be careful not to drop any piece of dirt into the hole.

... and that pipe coming from the air filter chamber is just for overflow of oil not to damage the motor (motorcycles do not leak, they leave marks, you know). Leave it as it is.

sparky

Thanks CozCan!

Will get wrench today!
And give it a shot!

CAn anyone tell what type of sparkplug i should buy, here in South africa when you ask for a spark plug for a 1996 xt600e, i get teary eyes and an
"A WHA"?

i just want to walk in and say i need a "[you're input here] sparkplug"

Thanks!

[QUOTE=narkotik666;130705]Hi
What does a choke out ride do?

choke purpose is to change the mixture to heavy rich for cold.
"chokes" work one of 2 ways.
1. starve the air thus enriching the mix
that's the traditional butterfly or slide that physically diminishes the available air from the air filter, thus sucks more percentage of fuel to air

2. leave the air alone and add gas
that's an enrichment circuit (choke acts like a valve), the old Amal tickler (floods the float chamber), or on early fuel injection they used an extra injector...later FI changes the map and does it thru the normal injectors.

Japanese is likey an enrichment circuit used as a "choke"

a very rich mixture (choke on) burns dirty and makes carbon...that carbon usually just fouls the plug, but if excessive, can also get under the valve seats and lodge in the piston ring grooves.

I'd first try a set of plugs, and if it still runs crappy, do a compression check to see the condition of the valves...if the valves aren't seating you will have backfires...if the rings are stuck it will smoke.

also, check the oil level to see if it raised from sucking gas...if so, it will smell like gas and be artificially high...don't run gas in the oil...it compromises lube and is a potential bomb...if it sucked gas, change the oil (and filter) and you'll be OK

if the plugs do the trick, you may have carbon built up on the piston dome...and that can have hot spots that glow and cause dieseling...engine runs on after you shut it off...but that's different than unseated valves blocked by carbon...valves will cause a "popping" and performance hesitation. Dieseling is no big deal, but valves unseated will cause wire drawing the seats and eventually need proper attention...which means open it up to fix.

Thanks for all the help!!!!

Didn't work!

er, i saw in the shop they had a spark plug tool set, but it was 16mm, are you sure it's a 14mm socket?
