My battery is Kerput! Replacement?
 

2 Years ago I bought a battery off Ebay from a shop in South England. I ordered and paid for a quality Yasua battery but when it arrived it was a cheaper Chinese take off. I contacted the idiots who sent it and after much wrangling managed to get some money refunded. I really couldn't be asked returning it in the post....

I can't remember the make of the thing because when I sprayed WD40 on it the letters disappeared.

Well, not surprisingly after only 24 months it's not holding a full charge.

I am now in need of a new replacement battery. I wanted to ask you lot for some advice -

Do I fit:

a. Yuasa (OEM fitting).
b. Boshe (German battery sold by Halfords here in UK).
c. Mottobat (Yellow one).

I rather like the look of the yellow Mottobat. I understand it provides extra cranking power?

Those of you who know me will realise my bikes don't get ridden much these days. I keep the battery topped up with a quality battery maintainer which is plugged in most of the year.

I can only recomend Yuasa, high quality brand used for many different things. Here in Norway i use Sonnak its a good brand.

Only heard good things about the Motobat.
I like and use Odyssey. Fitted in 2006 and still good.

Wemoto are showing the Yuasa at £41 and the Motobatt at £54. For an extra £13 the extra cranking amps gets my vote. The Motobatt is also fully sealed but the last Yuasa I bought came with the acid separate that you had to add.

Mine (a '91) cranks so slowly I always wonder if it is going to fire before the battery runs out. It always does but more amps will make it sound healthier...

Plus - using it once a month or so probably counts as more severe usage than every day so a higher quality will probably last longer.

if you guys maintain your batteries fully charged you'll never get any problems such as weak crank power nor anything!
And batteries discharge even when they're not in use!

Yuasa are good yes.. Motobatt seem good! I got a sealed GEL AGM battery on my bike and there is no problem with it whatsoever IF you take good care of it!
