copper exhaust pipes not good?
hi remember being told once a long time ago that copper gives of poisonous fumes when heated and so coundnt be used for exhaust pipes as the rider sits above the pipes and heat/fumes rise upwards steve

Shouldn't those poisonous fumes be gone after a few heat cycles?
It was just an interesting idea tho...

Well, my father is hitting 51 yo and is very much alive and very healthy...


Anyway, as far as this thread goes I'm gonna have to update it soon as possible as it has become too confusing even for me :confused1:

Where did you get the plastics from and how much did they cost.I need the front headlight surround and some sides too and did you find the little airscoops for the sides of the tank.I broke one and can,t find anything on e bay. Any one know of some cheap yam spares without getting screwed in shipping costs....cheers

I heard they give of some sort of arsenic gas...??????? Always been a no-no.

Update...

Some of the parts I bought a few months ago have arrived at my house in Azores...

My brother is going back home in two days and will check what parts have arrived because I'm clueless lol

I think the WR450 exhaust, YZ rear suspension brakes and hub, Universal Triple clamps (both 7/8th and 1-1/8 bar clamps) and Pro taper fatbar and the 2008 R1 oem brake light...

Don't remember if I bought anything else that long ago...


Anyway, when my brother let's me know what parts have arrived I'll then straighten this thread.....

Update
List of mods I’ve already done:
  • - 1989 kickstart.
  • - 02 YZ 250 front end with fresh 10w oil and new oil seals.
  • - UNIVERSAL black triple clamps. Top triple clamp for 1-1/8th (fatbar).
  • - Pro Taper fatbar.
  • - ASV F1 silver "unbreakable" with a little "hot start" lever that I'll use for the Manual decompresser.
  • - Welded over steering stoppers.
  • - Engine paint (done it but will probably have to redo it).
  • - 2003 XT600E (deep purplish blue) bodywork. (only missing both black side tank fairings).
  • - KTM 620 single carb conversion
  • - Repositioned rear shock mount.
  • – LED turn signals.
  • - NEW aftermarket rearview black Mirrors (with my custom made screws that fit in place of the clutch and brake "pivots"...to lower the mirrors a bit more)
  • - 2009 R1 clear rear brake light. (not sure if it did arrive)
On work is the frame sandblasting and painting which I hope to complete this Easter
Color: Black.

Still in the US:
1 - 2006 WR 450 stock exhaust.
2 - Tusk Clutch kit with HD clutch springs.

Spares :
1 2006 YZ rear shock
2 2006 YZ rear swing arm
3 2006 YZ rear wheel hub with brake rotor
4 2006 YZ rear brake caliper
5 2006 YZ rear wheel axle and spacers
6 UNIVERSAL 1-1/8th top triple clamp.
7 UNIVERSAL 7/8th top triple clamp

Wish list:
1 – Both left and right black tank side fairings.
2 – YZ or similar gear shifter.
3 – Kedo Stainless steel downpipes. 160€ shipped to Azores – Portugal.
4 – Stealth Trail Tech Vapor custom kit which includes: computer, speed sensor, power and tach cables, 12mm (sparkplug-type) engine temperature sensor and TWO magnet bolts 140USD with USA shipping included.
5 – Passenger spring-loaded foot pegs.
6 – Raptor 660 carb ( in case the single carb conversion gets to annoying… or tune up too impossible)
7 – New aluminum rims stock sizes for XT600E 21"x1.85 front and 17"x2.50 black with blue stripes with Buchanan HD stainless steel spokes and nipples.
8 – New Supermoto wheels. 17”x3.50 front 17”x4.25 rear also black or black with blue stripes (IF I can get them legalized on my “pinkslip”).

Items 7 and 8 will be the last things to do! Maybe in a year or three…loll

Wish List #6 - Raptor 660 carbs BOUGHT

I'm waiting for the seller to send me some better pictures but it seemed dirty on the outside but in good shape...

65.75USD with shipping to my US address ... not bad...

It is... I hope! lol

With the raptor carb I can always put the rear shock in the stock mounting position and go Supermoto on the front wheel...

I'm also considering on getting a 4PT 1995 model that a guy is selling around here for 1000€

it does have some problems...it has a cracked rear swingarm, missingsome plastic panels... but does have a CRD pipe..

as long as he has the "pinkslip" I'll consider on buying it..

15year technology advance? lol

my stock carbs aren't that bad but in the last couple of years it's got giving the same performance anymore... and fidling with the YDIS doesn't seem like a good idea...

Plus, the wide variety and ease of jetting options might help in the future if I want I can go add some ponies to the engine..

Plus, with the raptor carbs, I can put my rear shock in the stock mounting position and compensate the taller front forks with a 17" SM front wheel...

Does anyone know if the XT's stock carb inlet rubbers fit on the raptor carb?

Dont know, but cant you messure the width of your stock carb, and then the raptor carb?

Hope you get it on a dyno afterwards, so we can se what gain there is.

Lol hi!

I 've searched and read the XT's intake rubbers are a good fit to the raptor carbs...

One thing I know don't know is what are filters too get... any ideas on what fits the raptor carbs?

dyno? I'd love to do that..
but UNFORTUNATELY my bike is 2000 km away from me back in Azores... (I'm in mainland Portugal in Setubal city) and the raptor carbs are in the US lol

I hope the bike will be ready in the Summer by the time I finish one more college year...
