Hi,

The UK 3AJs were series 2 and came with a MPH speedo. I managed to pick up a used MPH speedo, as a spare, some years ago from a 89/90 UK model.

When I first got my 3AJ series 1 (import from Italy), I tried to order a replacement MPH speedo from my local Yamaha dealer. Although the correct part# was used, Yamaha Europe supplied a KPH one as they no longer held any MPH NOS. Fyi, I refused the KPH speedo, already having one, and had some "fun" new dial faces made up for the KPH speedo and tacho.

Hi Geoff... who made those dial faces for you? They look great, I'd be interested in a couple of those myself

+ 1 on that Geoff, makes the standard clocks look positively boring by comparison.

Hi Geoff & Mezo,

Thank you for your comments on my "bit of fun".

The faces were made up and fitted by Redial-UK, but looking around the web it looks as though they may not be around anymore?

Redial-UK appeared to be one guy in Essex, who allowed me to choose the general layout, then insert extra bits such as KPH for the "mileage recording" and supply gif pictures of the Ténéré etc. There was alot of tailoring decisions too, as I had to choose the face colour, the lettering colours, and the backlight/night colouring, etc... I'm not sure I got the best overall combination, however it was 'fun' (actually having so much choice was a bit of a pain!), but I chuckle every time my eye catches the 120mph and 9000rpm figures.

Fyi, I contacted the Swiss Ténéré Club who were very kind and allowed me to use their club badge/symbol, which you can see is split between the tacho and speedo.

Good luck,
Geoff

That`s a shame, if he knew where his market was he would have sold hundreds, so you have a unique one off speedo cluster now.

Mezo.
