Missing shim

Hi all

Whilst asking for advice regarding the dust cover and clip. Ive noticed on the parts manual there is a shim on the inner brake pad. This is missing on mine. On the diagram it looks a flatter/ simpler design than the outer one. Anyone made one of these? Or Is it acceptable to run with out it? Bike has passed m.o.t's at least a couple of years running with it missing!

That shim would be for a heat barrier or anti squeak part most likely. It won't be an issue without it, if your replacing the pads down the road, it may come with the pads(or something that tales its place). Otherwise pick one up sometime and put it back whenever you get around to it(in other words, no rush).

Apply some grease lubricant where the pressure from the piston is instead.

Never thought about a heat issue , and as it works okay at the moment with no squealing i'll leave it as it is. Thanks!

Good advice! I always use a well known grease made specifically for this type of job. Now to fit that spring!..........
