I've used Ventura luggage for years on several bikes by getting the proper L brackets and may do the same for the XT. However, I'd still prefer regular rack that I can place a topbox on securely.I have some other ideas too

Try Metal Mule

Rear Racks - Motorcycle Auto Luggage Systems

Haven't got the rear rack on my XT600E so don't know much about them. I've got the pannier rack and panniers. A bit pricey but worth every penny.

Depends what you want it for and how much you're willing to spend. I just wanted something low-cost but good enough for occasional use on my '94 XT600E (i.e., something broader/more protective for the rear fender than the plastic "flying U" that came originally) so I purchased a plastic automotive battery pan and bolted it on top of the OEM "flying U" with longer stainless steel machine screws. The pan has some holes on the sides (heavy duty - for battery straps) if I want to tie/bungie stuff and it protects the fender area just fine.

Hi
You could try the folowing people, David Lambeth, Metal mule, or Overland soulutions. i'm sure one of them will come up with something that would do.
good luck in your search.
