it keeps on revvin......HELP!

Getting my xt tenere ready for the UK big bike challenge, but i have a little problem.
i turn the throttle, let go & it still revs on for another 5 seconds or so. So i checked the diaphram in the carb & its got a milimetre hole in it, so i think this is the problem...........am i right?:confused1:

If your certain that the throttle cables arn't sticking etc, then the hole can do this yes.

Mechanic who?

Perhaps there are a lot of people who know a lot about mechanics out there. When someone poses a question with out any further info....such as how far can a frog jump? Take apart and clean the whole carb and inspect it and the intake manifold minutely. If the diaphram has a hole in it that indicates to me the carb is old or has had additives or cleaners run through it that could eat the black rubbery parts. Most carbs with a throttle plate and a vacum diaphram will idle without the vacum slide even in the carb!! What you are describing sounds like a carb with partialy plugged passages that sometimes defies cleaning. Try another known good good carb and see if your problems dissapear. Two wheels motor in the middle then ride.

ok now i think i know what it is............it seems to be the manifold inlet rubber, as this has a split in it i am assuming that it sucking in extra air:clap:
