I have an 87 xt 600 that I have modded into a motard and was wondering if any other owners may like info on parts / mods I made to the bike .
Here is a picture of the bike if its alright I can do a write up about it .

Its not quite done yet but close

Walkabout 20 Jan 2008 12:08

Just go ahead

You can pretty much do what you like on here; the moderators are very relaxed about technical write ups of XT600s.

here's mine. I'd love to see a write up on your bike. I'll be doing one shortly as well. Here's a picture of mine.

xt 600 supermoto

was once an 87 xt 600. Now is electric start, 11.5:1 copression 2mm overbore piston, white brothers competition cam, stiff valve springs, supertrapp muffler (soon to be probably Laser Produro and stainless header), raptor 660 carbs, k&n individual filters without airbox, powder coated motor and frame, answer pro taper bars, crf 450 forks, 17 inch supermoto wheels, braking large front rotor and caliper, yz 125 rear caliper for disc brake conversion, yz 250 rear shock spring, soon to be digatron egt/coolant temp/tachometer/speedometer multi guage to replace the crappy stock guages, crf 450 tripple clamps, crf 450 red front supermoto fender, gsxr rear blinkers. I think that about covers it. I've owned this thing for 10 years now, and have modified just about everything on it. Some people ask "why didn't you just buy a better/newer bike?". I like this thing for some reason. It's a lot of fun to ride, and nobody around here has anything like it. It's also been a lot cheaper to modify something every year rather than buy a new bike. Plus, I've had it for 10 years and have grown kind of attached to it

Looks good. What 17" wheels did you use? They look like Yamaha street bike wheels.

Hi guys.

My first post here after lurking for some time.

Here is my own 1984 XT 600"SM"
At the moment it´s not modified that much, but I have got plans for the future. Just need the cash...:-)
Here is the specs:

Behr 3,5x17 and 4,25x17 rims, laced to original hubs, and mounted with Continental Road Attack 120/60 and 160/60 tires.
UFO supermoto front fender.
Oilcooler off a GPZ of some sort.
Homemade oiltank mounted in the rear of the frame. Will at some point be replaced by another tank that will fit under the seat.
Stage 1 cam by ABP Racing in Germany.
Performance stainless header by ABP.
Shortened "Muzzy" exhaust.
Twin Mikuni 34mm flatslide carbs with individual K&N filters.

Plans include:
USD fork, Wilbers rear shock, higher compression pistonkit, most likely a little oversize, flowed cylinderhead.

Dry weight as pictured, 142kg (312lb), wet weight 150kg (330lb)

"Rolling20s": Have you had your bike dynoed? How is the performance compared to the standard bike?

Looking forward to the writeup from "600 thumper". Good looking bikes all.
