Question Interchangeable parts

I've just bought a model 43F XT600 which i'm hoping to restore. It is going to take a lot of TLC and several parts to become road legal (little details such as lights, electronics, indicators etc are missing).

I've seen lots of parts for XT600s on eBay etc but am not sure if parts from later models (which seem more common) would fit the 43F.

Are there any websites or other resource that can tell me which parts are interchangable between different models?

Thanks

Scott

Fiches

Your best bet is microfiches, get them from Internet (they are around). If part number is the same, it will certainly fit.
But, Yamaha sometimes changed the partnumbers, so then you have to know.
Ask on this or another forum.

Online parts interchange.

Try CMS at Honda Motorcycle Parts, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha Motorcycle Parts - ATV, Classic Bike, Dirt Bike Parts if you search by part number it will give you a list of bikes with that exact same part number. This is great for things like brake pads and bearings.

There are part of different numbers that will interchange, but were not the same exact part number. The site above will not help in finding them. For instance if a gas cap had 12 ridges for your hand to grab and is otherwise exactly the same as one with 16 ridges, you will never find it.

As mentioned before this forum - David Lambeth is XT man. He knows everything - what he doesn't know either doesn't work or isn't worth knowing!!!
