Insuring TTR600RE problems ?

As anybody else had problems insuring their TTR600RE in the UK ?

Ive had the bike three years now and cant recall problems in the previous years, Ive had a good quote from one firm but I had to use the TT600R on the confused dot com database of bikes as mine wasnt on there and when ive been in touch with the firm I want to insure with they cant find my bike on their database either but are looking into it for me. Ive phoned them back with my reg number to help things along but they say they cant access DVLA for bikes, they've not phoned me back yet and I'm a bit concerned.

Its been a bloody nuisance ordering some parts for this bike too.

Last year I found a few companies wouldn't cover it as they considred it too high a risk !

But then used the 'justbikeinsurance' arm of Carol Nash and they were fine about it.

Comprehensive insurance was a bit steep though, about the same as another (dual) policy that has a XRJ1300 and a XT660Z on it... As the bike is mainly used for green lanes I wasn't to bothered about comprehensive and 3rd party was fine.

Although it's due for renewal in a couple of months, so we'll see......

The bike is actually called a TT600RE, not TTR600RE. That might be why you're having problems with the insurers. I've had no problems getting parts from a Yamaha dealership.

Just got my renewal thru for my TTr600RE -its tacked on a classic policy with Lynbrook.
I have my 1978 Z1000 & 1969 Trumpet & the Yam, Fully Comp, Breakdown all for

£209 (I don't have any no-claims since I've had classic policies for a few years now).

I am in my late 40's !!!!

Thats strange because I just googled TT600RE and there are has many hits has TTR600RE which is what I bought the bike has and always thought it was called. It seems a bit of an oddball along with its non Japanese quality, still no word from the insurance company but I will give them the other name for it on Monday.

The quote was £120.00 TPFT which is quite good hence i'm pursuing it.

The Yamaha manual states TT600RE

Type that into eBay and you get loads of Triumphs....!
