Indicators

Just sharing some experiences with everyone. After a spill and some damage instead of replacing my indicators with stock Yamaha ones I went for those nice looking short stem mini indicators. They look good and are cheap but a word of warning.... the XT shakes them to pieces. Save yourself a lot of trouble and buy ones with flexible stems, only after 5 bulb changes have I given up!

Indicators

here is another tip.....if i may add my few cents worth..
forget replacing brake bulbs and indicator bulbs. i know they are more exspensive, but buy the LED ones, they are a cluster of leds with a stock bulb end and they are twice as bright ( at least) as a normal bulb, (more chance of being seen, less chance of being hit) and vibration on an RTW or off road trip doesnt knacker the filaments as the LED is pretty vibration proof. I hat them fitted to my XTZ750 Super tenere and even after a 100mph crash all the bulbs were fine! ( wish i could say the same for the bike and my pelvis!)

LED's are the way to go - they don't cost much more if you go on ebay.

Just make sure you get the right type of fitting/colour.

Hiya you can buy special indicator relays that flash at a set rate or resistor blocks to add to the indicators that slow them down (pull the same current as your old bulbs) i have seen these on ebay hope this helps

Do you have the mini indicators front and rear?
When i put the mini indicators on my xt600e, i blew a rear bulb and could only get 3watt bulbs at the time. Original mini bulbs were 5 watt from memory. the difference in resistance made the indicator flash like 1 of the bulbs was blown. It's the same in cars, it's like a warning to tell you you have a bulb blown. The 2 indicators front and rear need to be balanced.
I blew half a dozen bulbs in quick succession, until i put a piece of thin rubber between the indicator and the subframe to act like a shock absorber. Seems to have worked.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
