ignition switch

2 Attachment(s)
Hi there, i have an electrical problem, the bike was running perfect untill yesterday, i started the bike and i noticed an weird idle, and the hi beam lights were blinking, same with the neutral light in the dash, i rev the engine up just a little and the tendency was to stall, so i turn off the engine and i tried to start and nothing happen, it was caput, no lights,no neutral light, nothing, the battery post are ok and tightened, same with battery.

Here are the pics of the ignition switch' switches and i measured continuity between red and brown for continuity on the "ON" position just like the manual says but on the of, lock, park ,there's continuity, I guess the ignition switch is faulted but i'd rather ask to you if you have any clues to this problem

Any help please would be appreciated

ignition problem

hi there, kind of had the same problem with 3aj. i gave the ignition plug where it connects to the loom a bit of a wiggle and found the ignition would come on, then when i let it go it would go off. what i ended up doing was removing the pins out of the plug with a very small screw driver, cleaning the pins with emery cloth and re-inserting, remembering to pull out the retaining lugs on the pins to hold them in the plug. i then sprayed wd 40 in there, let dry and then sprayed battery terminal grease in there to keep the moisture out and stop the problem happening again. one thing that is strange though is that it starting idling wierd cause the engine should keep running with the ignition u/s until you turn the bike off. well it does on mine anyway. yours is 10 years newer than mine and i'm sure is a different setup. but try the plug, maybe that will work.

good luck.

thanks for that Allan, i've got a question anyway about the ignition switch.

- Is it possible to open it to clean it all inside.

- How did you remove the pins from the ignition switch? I looked at it and from the top i removed the plugs and i saw the end of the pins, from the other side i saw the head pin and it was like a circle head, sorry to ask again but how did you do it?

Thanks again mate
