XTZ750 usuall problems

Hi,
I've just purchased a XTZ750 Super Tenere and i'm aware of three regular problems with this model

1 gearbox oil seal leaks

2 regulator packs in

3 needles and emulsion tubes wear out

My bike had its oil seal done last year by the previous owner so i'm ok with that, should i change the reg now before it packs in, as it has a reg with made in japan on it so i presume its the original and if i do need to change it what should i use. The bike runs fine at the moment so when the needles and emulsion tubes need changing should i use genuine Yam parts or some other make.

Congrats for S10
The reg must have real heatsink.Look for:
ducati energia 12v 35A
majestic 250-400
GSXR
TDM 850
R1,R6
piagio X9 500.......
beside running fine what is your consumption?Below 7L/100km is OK.
In other case look for :needles from KEDO ("swiss kit").Original emulsion tubes or better from "factory pro"

Teedee,
I changed my regulator with one from a UK company called Electrex, they do two models RR98 / RR54. Just identify which one fits your model.

Electrical parts > Yamaha Motorcycles - stator generator regulator rectifier

Regarding the emulsion tubes i got mine from the US from a company called Factory Pro, I believe they have a UK distributor called Straightline Racing.
Part Number CRZ-EMU-100120k
Factory Pro: Producers of the EC997 Low Inertia Eddy Current Dynamometer Series and Quality MC performance products

Theres a good website that covers all things related to the Super Tenere including a step by step guide of how to replace the emulsion tubes,
www.super-tenere.net

I hope this helps.

Ian

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
