Not really a question, just an observation. I am a proud new owner of a '90 XT600. Well, new to me. Last night I started the cold blooded beast (choke on of course) to let her warm up before my 50 mile trek to work. I started it, then went inside to get my backpack and lunch. Upon returning to the bike the first 7 inches, or so, of the head pipe was glowing cherry red! WOW is that hot. I know it's an air hammer but JEEZE! Don't think my vintage huskys ever get that hot.

funny ive noticed the same thing its unreal seeing it glowing red hot like that. I'd say its normal for that its just during the day you cant see it.

I recommend you get an oil temp sensor for the XP.
