HELP! - No Power, big fuel consumption, overheating

Had an accident two weeks ago, bike is running but loads of probs.

I went of the road at 70km/h and the bike went over twise...

Okay here we go:
-Problem one: No Power on Large fuel consumption. (fifth gear is now useless! Max speed 110 on flat road)
- Cleaned all the petrol lines
- Adjusted bowl leavel of carb (Just on thing, should the little spring not be pushed in at all or only by the bowl itself
- Adjusted air intake.
- cleaned carnaratreur.
Problem is still there... (spare cdi is on the way, but have the feeling thats not it on way or the other.)

-Problem 2 overheating: Normally its around 85 degrees now it goes all the way to 120!!! on normal roads.
- Did an oilchange and cleaned what could be cleaned.
- Problem still there and oil is pushed out via the airfilter over my engine (small bits, but too much)

Could it be my cylinderhead gasket is gone? because of the crash?

Does anyone know if there is a yamaha dealer in Egypt or a good workshop then I will ship it there!

I have the repairmanual that a german firm road, dont know the name. So I tried most of the tips that are in there...

My bike is a XT600Z 3AJ

Thanx for the help!

Hi,

Sorry to hear you got trouble.
I'll think about it some more but this is what came to mind first. How are your wheelbearings and breaks?

As said from Peter , try to run the bike in neutral with motor killed , and look and hear for rumours and vibrations (check of bearings and transmission) look also to the silencer : a damaged/fulled one may cause your problems (even sometimes simptoms taken for seizure , instead was the wiremesh spark arrestor inside silencer fully of dirt..)

All solved except oveheating...

My secondstage of the altanator was not working...
But is still gets a bit too hot what can that be...
The engine sounds great, someone told me who raced thes things across the dessert for years, but it strange it still gets hot...

If YOU know what that might be... please post!

maybe your temp gauge and/or temp sensor was damaged in the crash and is just giving a dubious reading...

maybe your oil cooler (does your bike have a cooler?) was damaged and is not functioning as required...

i found (on my aircooled bmw) that if my fuel air mixture was too lean, the engine ran hotter...

i'm sure you know that when you ride up hill (even a slight rise) or have a tail wind an aircooled engine will run hotter...

the bmw car dealer in cairo has a mechanic that knows about bmw bikes (i think the police still ride them). very helpful. only a suggestion...

the paris dakar rally, this year the 'paris - sham al sheik rally' will be on sinai soon. www.dakar.com (coming via siwa and luxor and Cairo????? check their site...). am sure there will be loads of mechanics there.... 90% ktm and 10% honda, but still bike experts....

good luck...

Fuel mix is okay, and even when my oil cooler doesnt work it should not overheat if its not working as it is an extra....

And ofcource I will go to the paris dakar!
Only dont know where yet... but I guess those mechs there are pritty busy, and I drive an old Yamaha...

Thanx for thr info..
