Hi,

I am Ivan from Serbia and would like to ask you something about xt 600 1991. (3ux) frame. Few days ago I saw my friends bike (above mentioned) and the wheels are not in line. We have checked frame ( potential crash signs) suspensions. Everything seems ok.I have read on internet that some bikes had been produced with wheels out of line. Is it possible? There is no problem in ridding of bike.Bike goes perfectly ok, in turns too.I can not notice enything. Please give me some advices.

try using a carpenters level held up to each wheel. If you stand the bike up straight and then hold the level on each wheel and both wheels are vertical then the wheels are straight up and down. Then hold a straight piece of somthing along both sides of the back tire that reach to the front tire and see if the front tire is centered in them, the front tire being thinner. Another test is to ride across a flat paved area and go thru a puddle of water and then onto a dry section....if you are not turning there should be only one tire track....if you see two tracks maybe the frame is bent. Personaly I have ridden several bikes with bent frames many km's.

We own a 55W with the same 'problem'. Traveled the whole of Africa and Turkey with it.
If it rides well, don't fix it.

The only problem you might have with it is in deep sand. Wheels not in line will make it pull slightly to one side.

Thank you. I will see what to do. I checked the bike the way you told me and it seems out of line.But i can ride completely normal. At the worst scenario the frame will be repaired.Mechanic told me 200 euro. As we dont have deep sand in Serbia probably want touch anything.Thank you all once more.
