Fork studs...

Hi all,
I've recently bought a 43F kickstart XT from one of my mates.Inevitabley with a bike this old it's showing signs of wear and tear and amongst other things had a blown fork oil seal,I've replaced the seal but when taking the front end apart I noticed that the 4 studs that hold the front wheel spindle clamp all have dodgy threads and need replacing:(.
According to my parts cd the studs are sold as part of the fork lowers,so I'm looking at removing them and replacing with exhaust studs or something similar. What I need to know is, has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you get the studs out,and what did you replace them with?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi, normally they are also screwed into the fork legs but with a counterspin thread..

You could also put some new studs(or larger studs that are larger on the bottom part or bottom and top if you want) which you can order made on a mech shop...

Personally, I have put two larger diameter studs on my 2002 Yamaha DT125R cylinder larger on the bottom and "stock" on top and it is as new! ;)

Vando :innocent:
