Fork Oil Drain Point on XT600e 2001???
Some assistance from the you knowledgeable guys and gals please......I am want to change the fork oil on my 2001 XT600e but the fork set up on the 2001 model is very differrent from the models in my Clymer Manual.

I was planning to drain the fork oil using the large screw on the underside of each fork (undone with a large allen key) as there is no drain hole on my version. However i have been told that this holds the spring down in the tube, and whilst it would work, it would be very difficult to mary up with the spring to get it back in again. I was advised to to take the forks off, turn, and drain from the top. Is this how other people do it? It seems a lot more onnerous.

Sounds right. My Africa Twin forks are the same. Make sure to loosen the fork tops before taking the fork off the bike (loosen the top clamp before undoing the fork top and keep pressure on it so it doesn't fly up and wack you one). Also check for washers, spacers etc when you take the springs out or you'll lose them into your drain tray.

Yup. Losen the caps then take the forks out.

Remember to measure how much oil comes out so you know how much goes back in.
