few questions about TT600R
 

I've few questions.

Standard sprockets in TT600R are: 15 front and 44 rear, with 112 links chain.
What do you think about replacement from 44 rear to 50 and chain from 112 links to 116.
I plan to use that bike on a trip to Mauritania (aobout 5000 km off-road and 5000 km moroccan gravel transit).. Is it good solution? I'm asking about that because I've bought TTR with 50 rear. I also have oroginal parts, and I'm wonder wich will be better. It gives better acceleration but effectively decrease the speed. Over 90 km/h engine screaming.. Is it influence on a fuel consumption?

Another question is about fuel. On few legs I'll need about 45 litres. What is the best way to carry it. 32 l tank is to expensive for me so I must use 20l Acerbis. This is still 25 litres left. I must use Jerrycans. Is mounting it on the aluminium boxes a good solution? Do you have any experience in this case?

Last question will be about any other modifications. What is recommended to prapare the bike for 30 days in desert?
I thought about tank, pannier system... hmmm.. and what else...
Any ideas?

You didn't mention what year your bike is.

If it is a '98 or '99, beware of swing arm problems. I just got back from a trip aroung South America on a TT600E and the swing arm broke in Argentina. As it is aluminium, it was a bugger to get welded. I finally managed to get it fixed and reinforced and the guy who did it said that the swing arms on the '98 and '99 models have a design fault and often break unless reinforced.

The critical area is on the right hand side, just in front of the cross bar that sits immediately in front of the rear wheel.
