Engine rebuild - list of bearings?

Hi all

I've finally got my cases split (after a 2 year wait!) so now getting on with the rebuild. Target is to make the HU UK meet this year...

Anyone got a list of the bearing numbers for a '88 3AJ? All of the 8 bearings in the cases...

I've taken the numbers down but in previous pasts the numbers given are much longer that the 4-digits I can see...

Also, should I get my crank rebuilt? I've read a couple of posts about failures, makes me nervous. The rest of the engine looks OK, although all of the gears look worn, 3rd to 5th pitted (and will be replaced).

Cheers

Barry

Bearings

Barry,

Send me an e-mail, then I can send you the microfiches from Yamaha (parts catalogue) for a 89 Tenere. Yamaha indicates the standard bearing numbers in their catalogue, so you can check. The L/H main bearing btw is identical to the R/H one for this engine.
Warning to others: this is not the case for older models!

Rebuilt of crankshaft: while you're in there, why not? Conrod and bearing approx. 150 Euros, rebuild and balancing approx 75. If you decide to replace all bearings, assume there's some wear already.

Hi Barry
How are you getting on with the engine rebuild?
I may also need to rebuild a 3AJ engine and would like a rough idea of what the cost is for all the bearings, seals and gaskets.
Did you use genuine Yamaha bearings or go to a bearing supplier.
I also want to go to the Hub meeting if I can get a bike fixed in time hope to see a few XTs there.
