engine rebuild

so have just rebuilt the engine after the fifth gear change and two problems....one is the clutch will not disengage and the second it won,t start!!!

I adjusted the clutch per the book so I have no idea what might be wrong ...the starting problem could be I put the cam in 180 degrees out!...

Any idea,s more than welcome.I have put the engine in the bike so the first thing in the weekend is to re check the timing and drain the oil in preparation for another clutch strip....

Have you lost the ball that is in the middle of the clutch mech?
As for it not starting start at the basics, fuel/air/spark.
I'd check your timing too - easy one to get wrong.

Hi!

As Tom said...you could've left out the metal sphere that is inside the clutch axle so check it!
If it is there you'll need to recheck the "buttefly" nut that is at the end of the clutch basket.. it is surely too loose or too tight..

It took me a few times opening and closing the engine casing just to make it perfect!

And DON'T forget, after the engine is full of oil that messes the clutch play soo it needs to be just a wee bit loose!

Also... after you set the butterfly just a little loose, you will adjust the clutch play at the clutch LEVER "on-the-fly" adjuster or you just won't be able to make it work!

Soo. setting the clutch, the "on-the-fly" adjuster should be at middle position! THIS IS IMPORTANT! or you won't be able to adjust the clutch!

Fix the clutch first.... Then worry about the engine not starting !!

Check your timing TDC marks with the case. Check the valve positions when the Cylinder is at the top of the bore with the generator markings at TDC.
