Help! XT600 1VJ Front Rack/Luggage Needed

Hello

I desperately need to find some form of storage/rack/luggage to mount directly right/left and down from my fuel tank. Does anyone make such things or does anyone have any designs from which to work? I am really concerned about weight distribution and particularly not having sufficient grip on my front wheel off road. Anyone with any ideas would be enormously appreciated.

Thanks

AC

You could try Ernie at Overland Solutions...

www.overland-olutions.com.

He could make some racks but I've heard nothing but bad reports about bike handling with stuff mountain side of the engine up front. Never tried it myself though !

Thanks again.

The way I am making a front rack is as follows.

Buy yourself an engine crashbar and to that you can fit, for instance two 10 or 20 liter jerry cans.

They are both low and in the front.
I am still working on it but it seems prommesing ;-)

Hello, waverider.

A guy in holland makes racks. about 300 euro's for the back, you can fit the bernd tesch boxes on them.
You can mail him directly at xtravelsAThetnet.nl (replace AT with @)
His website currently is in dutch (www.xtravels.nl) He can send you the rack by post...

There was a discusion going on somewhere else on this forum about cht-gauge and oil temp gauges.

I choose for an oil temp gauge. Seems to be more of help as it measures the complete motor temp and not only the ch-temp

But if you still want to fit a cht then there are the following address for you:

Westach Model 2C1 do a search on that and you will find a loacal dealer OR
Skydat DX7

The first is analog the second is digital.
They both sell oil temps aswell.

WP suspension can directly be mail ordered under "rembours" at http://www.wp.nl you better give them a ring that goes quicker then mailing them.

Sorry most of the address are in Holland but they will ship it to you aswell....

Hope it helps

I have also been looking into getting the front and rear racks made up. I can personally recommend Ernie, his work is absolutely top-notch and very good value. At the mo he is doing Chris Scott's bikes for his www.desert-riders.com trip. The most promising off-the-peg solution I have found for headlight guards and wraparound tank / engine protectors is www.rikycross.it

The photos are only in the Italian language section, but I know Dave Lambeth orders parts from them, so they can't be too bad. There are lots of XT6 goodies there, for us twin-lampers and the single headlight versions.

I was wrong. It is www.desertriders.co.uk

The Riky Cross website is also down, but do a search for the name in google, and it will be back up soon (I hope!)

DOH!
