New Tenere

Do Forum users feel that the new 660Z TENERE will be as much of a legend as the "old" one? Does anyone have any reports/feedback yet? Am looking for a new bike later in 2008 and it's on the shortlist. Many thanks.

Wink Single Vs Twin on price alone

Time will tell I guess.
Last time I asked a Yam dealer, about 3 weeks ago, it was expected in the showroom in April.

At about £4900 it is competing more or less head-on with the new BMW F650GS, which is really a 800cc twin developing 71 HP for around £5300.

The Tenere's engine has already proved itself reliable in the XTR/X and is also being used in the MT03 and Aprillia Pegasus an couple other bikes, it's not the most powerfull of engines compared to some of the KTM's and BMW's but I would take reliability over a bit more power.

So it's all up to the chassis. I know they have moved the fuel tank to under the seat to better distibute the weight, also they have sticked with a steel tubed frame which is heavier but stronger than alloy and also easier repairable if it comes to it. Here is a blog with a KTM rear subframe snap. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tst...k7/2007_04.php

Can't wait till it arrives!!!

I spoke to my local dealer this week about when we might actually see this bike in the showroom at last, and he said that Yamaha have recently informed them of production delays, and also the fact there will only be a limited number of XT660Z's available in the UK, certainly initally...

If it's as good as it looks, and at under £5000, I reckon the waiting list will be longer than the traditional BMW one... and it might not be until 2009 that you can get one... best get an order in now?

Hey ho.

2009

Here in Brazil we're expecting this bike.
Probably it'll start do sell on 2009, and I'm going to change my XT660 for this model, that has a bigger tank and another thing that it's good for big trips.
Well, let's wait...
