Dog slow

I've just picked up a two year old XT600E (import) 20K on the clock. But it seems pretty gutless. As a guide can anyone give me some balls out acceleration times on tarmac (on-road or off-road tyres) (just rough numbers will be fine)

The XT600E is never going to be a fast bike, but it was never designed to be. I only ever got about 85mph from my '99 model, but by that speed you need the arms of a gorilla to survive the wind blast. As for acceleration, how do you measure these things? If you're being beaten away from the lights by a 1.3 Nova then something is up! I had my bike dyno-ed at one point, to discover that it only made about 28bhp at the rear wheel. An XR600 makes about 10bhp more and weighs 30kg less.

you should try removing the intake snorkle and the resonance box betwen the carbs and the engine... (as desceribed in andis mopped cafe http://home.main-kinzig.de/aludwig/index.html)

hi carter, ive got a 600cc supersports and a xt600e and the xt is quicker and more fun in town.take it out of town and it is dog slow as u say, but its not the sort of bike for that is it? in traffic theres plenty of grunt up to 40/50mph using torque, not hp.and knock a baffle out and put a spoonful of gear oil in your end can,if someone cuts you up get in front of them for a few minutes, the noise/smell will give them the message!
in fact its such good fun i was thinking of trading both bikes in for a good supermoto like a ktm duke or ccm.

100mph! that is light years away from my top speed! Was that with road or trail tyres?
