Decompression cable for Tenere
My electric/kick start 1987 Tenere seems to have the bits on the head for the decompressor, but not the matching bits down near the kickstart to hook a cable up to. I tried to kick start it the other night and ended up sucumbing, once again, to the allure of the push button! Perhaps it was intended for a manual decompression release? Your thoughts would be valued!

look for a small cover located on the bottom left engine side (between clutch and kick-start shaft). the cover is fixed with 2 M6 allen screws. dismount and you got the place where to hook in the decompression cable.
take care to adjust the cable properly. easiest way is adjustment when engine is running: adjust lenght of cable so that no movement is feelable when touching the upper decompression lever. if there is not enough play on the lever, you risk to burn the valve. if there is too much play on the lever, decompression might not work properly. good luck, klaus |
