Decomp arrangement of 3AJ
 

Still working on my 88 or 89 tenere, and still waiting for my Clymer-book....:(
Question: I haven't found any decomp lever on my bike, anyhow, I've found drawings on the web indicating what this would look like if I had one, (tried to attach it as well), and I definately ain't got one. Is this normal on a -88/-89 3AJ, not having decomp, or have an earlier owner dismantled the decomp-assembley? The topcover is plugged where the decomp-cam should be added.

This is as it should be. The 3AJ was never originally provided with the the automatic decompressor, as it was only supplied with electric start. That is why in the place of the lever there is a plug.
However, it is relatively simple to install the kickstart and autmatic decompressor. All holes and other necessary items in the engine are in place.
