Cylinder compatability info for a 1VJ

Hi all,
I have just found the cause of a nasty oil leak on my '86 1VJ Tenere, a crack in the cylinder casting.

Anyway, can anybody tell me what options I have for getting another cylinder.
Do I need a 1VJ or can I put just about any XT600 cylinder on? I'm guessing there may be some variation on bolt hole patterns (cylinder to casings or cylinder to head) over the years that may limit my options.

Any advice welcome (or just some kind words in my hour of need). :(

Dave

I've swapped barrels/pistons between electric/kick start bottom ends without any issues so you should be OK.

there is a difference in the head/cylinder mounting bolt positions on some models but i'm not sure which are which :confused1:

Update

Thanks for the info. I checked my local bike shop and it appears the same cylinder is used on all 83-87 models.
Regards, Dave
