Cyclic Vibration through front end at speed; XT600 34L

Gents Ladies,

hoping you can help, typically when at +70mph I get a cyclic vibration through the front end of the bike quite noticeable through the handle bars, more so when I'm accelerating though not as noticeable when I'm holding speed.

I think this has caused a premature death of my headstock bearings as of late when i turn the handlebars when stationary I can feel the bearing "clicking/snatching".

Has anyone any experience of this and what may be causing it? or are there any threads anyone can point me too?

Thanks in advance

I would check the obvious first, flat spot in your rim,out of round tyre or evn an out of balance front wheel.Check your wheel bearings also.It could also be that your headstock bearings were already shot which is causing the problem.Does your front tyre have uneven wear?.Lots of possibilities.

try taking your front fender off and ride the bike... My 1990 XT600 with the stock front fender used to have a lot of those vibrations but with this other one it stopped doing it... it was because the front fender is very weak and the air at that speed made it shake... :cool4:
