Crash Bars for the XT600E - Thoughts ??

Just seen http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...link:middle:uk on Ebay

Anyone had any experience of them ??

They seem expensive for what they are and im dubious if they would even hit the ground before your tank and bars anyway.

Exactly what I was thinking. Think Kedo sells something that looks similar. Still deciding between kedo or making my own. Any thoughts on better designs? Cheers.

Hepco & Becker

Hi,

I have German made Hepco & Becker engine crash bars on my XT600E, and they lok much more usefull than the ones on your link. These come part way ariund the sides of the crank cases.

I would have prefered them to have had an additional attachment point on each side to stop hem folding in and hiting the crank case in the event of a spill, so I had a cuple of brackts welded to the motorcycle frame and had cross braces made. I then mounted home made jerry can holders and 10 liter cans to them and rode 35 ooo milles without problems with them, including a few spills.

Crash Bars hmmmm

Hi Ted
I can only agree.
If they don't wrap around the crank case they serve little purpose.
My last spill (woman knocked me off then drove over my right leg over, then buggered off. NICE)
The bike came down on the right side, the crackcase survived but it ground the hell out of the rear brake pedal. (destroyed a good set of handel bars and their associated bits too.) But I got shiny new bars..
