Considering 1987 XT600

Hello all... I am considering buying a 1987 XT600 project bike... It is complete, and it runs, but stalls out when its put into gear... I am assuming this to be a clutch issue... What else should I look for, or should I run all together ;-)??? Thanks for any help...

Could be smething as simple as the sidestandswitch. It gets a lot of dirt and water.

If the engine just stops, its probably the sidestand switch, however if the bike is stalling when it goes into gear the clutch plates will be stuck together... quite a commaon thing if the bike's been stood for a while...

Mine were stuck together after sitting for 12 months, i just fired it up in gear with the clutch held in & one finger on the front brake, reved it up & let the clutch out & it free`d up fine. :thumbup1:
