Clutch steel plate splines
I'm getting ready to put the clutch together on my '89 XT600 and I noticed that the steel clutch plates are not splined all the way around. Each plate is sort of divided into quarters, with four splined sections, and four sections without splines. I have the factory service manual and it makes no mention of how the steel plates are oriented when putting the clutch back together.
My guess would be to space out the spline-less gaps around the clutch hub to distribute the load more evenly, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know how these are supposed to go? Thanks. |

Noone to help you out???
God damn.. Well, on my XT600E Those plates are all fitted the same way, same position.. On mine there are two plates that are different from the rest and there is also a spring plate (very similar to the steel plates)... Hope this helps! If i were you I'd try to contact David Lambeth, he ought know those things and can help you out better! Vando
