clutch problem. help needed pls

got my 3aj 88 tenere today.love it./(though it feels like a tractor on the highway after riding my cbr1000f.)anyway the bike doesnt shift to neutral when stopped(engine running).my mech recons might be dulicate clutch facing which r thivker than original. but unless i open the clutch i will not. seller told me clutch facing is new(5k kms).on the move no problems watsover. clutch doesnt feel nice and spongy. not hard either.suggestions needed please. also wat are good crusing sppeds/ rpm on the highway?been keeping rpm over 3.5k rpm. 5th gear only at bout 4.5k rpm. but at that speed bikes doin 110-120kmph.is it ok to ride long distances on the freeeway at 110kmph?.

Check that there is not too much play in your clutch cable.
It should not matter that your clutch plates are thicker than standard, it should always be possible to disengage.

iv had the same prob wind the ajuster out to give a little pull on the cable from the engine so that when u pull ur clutch lever ull separate the clutch plates a little more than before u wont be able to switch to neutral if ur cranks pullen on the clutch its like changing gear without pullin the clutch in

Is your chain adjusted right? Been a factor on some bikes Iv ridden. Else just put it in neutral while coasting...
