choke pull on 98 xt600

Hi Guys when the choke is in off position does it go all the way home when ye push it in, as i cant remember now, as mine sits out about 5mm or so, when pulled out fully the bike will be on choke to about 3500 revs, when pushed in, it sits about 1400. is this about right. cheers:scooter:

thanks guys,, il try that, as am sure it did go all the way home before last nite.... I say last nite, as i stripped my airbox out an the rubbers that attach to the carb as i was wanting to get in to see the top of the shock to see how hard it was to put a block in there to raise the suspension a bit,, an when i rebuilt it all up again, thats when i noticed it as it was reving that bit higher...before i started to mess with the above last nite.. i remember pulling the choke on an it would only rev on full choke about 2k revs... than after all this, i started it an the choke seemed to come out even more than normal now reving to 3.5k revs on full choke,, thats when i thought id done something i shouldnt have... but al try the grease thing an loosen the nut...is that nut holding the choke pull in place ??

OR, you didn't put something together right and you have an air leak that is allowing more air into the motor. Once warmed up adding choke should flood the engine not cause higher revs, cold yes, hot no.

Stop messing with it, its perfectly normal that you can se a couple milimeters of the shaft on the choke, when in off position.
