Chain Guide

The chain guide i have is a single sided one which isn't as effective as the enclosed ones i've used on other bikes. I've had the chain come off when i've come off whilst on the dirt.

Anyone know of a better one that fits a 3AJ ?

Thanks,

John

Hey there.... I'm in the same boat..... my XT600E also got a single sided chain guide which I think is worthless :\ I've been searching for an enclosed one and it seems that the XT600 2KF has one which is enclosed but dunno how good it is...I'll be searching for those enclosed MX chainguides and see what I can do with it..... :cool4:

Have ya found one for your bike?

No i haven't found a suitable replacement and I agree that the single sided one is a useless waste of time ...

Hi.... I'm probably gonna get a YZ chainguide, not the stock one but an aftermarket one...it's about 20USD + SH on ebay but I bet it's the easiest way to get an enclosed chainguide and the holes look pretty much same distance as the ones on the XT... :cool4:

If I could I'd already bought one of those believe me :cool4:

Updateee

Hi all... Anyone still want that enclosed chain guide???

it's from the 83-89 XT600 model
part number: 34L-22153-00

Dunno if it actually fits in 1990+ models.. but you can give it a try since it isn't expensive..

Have fun.

chain guide

Hi, I have seen DT125's with these guides fitted. Maybe standard to them. But yes you will need a swingarm with double sided bracket to hold this guide on, which is only (i think) as fitted to the 83-89 XT.

im dumb, i thought mine was broke! maybee yamaha was dumb for putting a single sided chain GUIDE

bacardi23 4 Jul 2008 14:26

i had one on my 2002 DT125R but it wasn't strong enough and once the chain came off, it broke that chain guide and my engine casing fortunately very easily fixed... I'm going to buy one chain guide for an YZ that has a aluminum casing and make it fit on my XT6 E :innocent:

i'm told that there is meant to be some sort of wheel on the swing arm that stops chain bounce. Mine hasn't got one. Is this correct and if so it any use?

Thanks

There is actually two of those wheels.. one on bottom and one on top of the swing arm... I made the bottom one for my XT600 E with a white round shaped polymeric material (forgot the name haha) anyway, it doesn't work too bad...but a OEM part would be better...
