Centre stand fitment

Hi folks,
I'm in the process of fitting some kit to my new (to me) XT600E. One of these things is a SW Motech centre stand. This might sound like a dumb question but I thought I'd ask just in case.
Any one out there fitted a centre stand? It seems straight forward but the pin which is removed and replaced by a longer one that attaches the stand to the bike seemed very hard to remove which made me think it might be under tension. Looking closer the piece of metal that the pin passes through also seems to be attached to the bottom of the rear shock? Anyway, to cut this ramble short: Can I remove this pin no problem or does it hold the back end together and as soon as I pull it out will there be a loud 'Boing!' as my bike springs into bits?
Cheers,
Matt

I have not fitted one of the stands you describing, But I belive the bolt you are about to remove is the lower suspension link mounting. Before you remove it the rear wheel must be raised of the ground, otherwise the bike could fall to the ground. this bolt can be tricky to reinstall, if you have a helper to support the weight of the rear suspension it goes alot easier.

Glad I asked now! Propping up the back of the bike on wooden blocks to get the back wheel off the ground made removing the pin much easier. A bit of help from a second person was needed to realign the frame and the suspension connecting arm so I could put the new pin through but no force was nessecary.
Cheers!

I don't know the brand of centrestand, but I think it is quit unusually to fit it that way... I used a centre stand on my xt600e and it was fixed to the 'feet' of the bike left and right.
Anyway... good luck!
