casings

Ok I have a badly craked rh casing off my xt600 z tenere 87 model with both kick start and electric.

Does any one know if a casing from an 86 kickstart model will be the same as the 87? I have the parts manual for 87 but none for the 86.

I was hoping that perhaps the core engine casings would be the same for those models and I would be able to swap the casing from my 86 one onto the casing for the 87 electric start.

I have read of people adding kick starts to the later models and was hoping somebody would be able to help as I am sure some one somewhere will have tried to convert their kickstart to electric start.

All help welcome before I start stripping the paint off the cracked one,dye penetrating to find the cracks then having them welded again.
