Carb rubbers

Hi again !

Forgot to mention in my other post that whilst dismantling the bike to get the head off, I noticed that the right hand carb rubber has separated from its mounting. Is there anything I can use to re-glue, it or is it going to be a new one ?

Thanks again!

Bill

If you mean it's just slipped off the carb, then just slip it back on and make sure the clamp is there, in-place and tight.

If you mean is has split, then just replace it. A bodge never works for any length of time.

Hi Ted

I Think ive described it wrong- its the part that bolts on to the head( with two allen bolts) then goes to the carb. The left one seems to have the rubber bonded to the metal , the right one is not split but has come away from the metal ?

hi there i had this happen on a srx bacicaly same as a xt , the best option is a new one , but we used a product called SIKOFLEX to bond the rubber back to the metal, get it from motor factors . the car trade loves the stuff and for good reason . it has been on for 3 months now and all seems well . zigzag

Hi Zigzag ! Im sure I remember using that stuff 20+ years ago in the garage I worked. I had forgotten all about it- Im thinking its gotta be worth a shot and if its worked well for you, I`ll give it a go too. Thanks for the imput!
