Blip throttle but cuts out on me!
Hi all,
My 92 xt600e has just started a nasty habit of cutting out. It only seems to happen when I blip the throttle from idle whilst moving in first gear. If I slip the clutch and lift the revs I can keep her from stalling, using second gear doesn't seem to cause the cutting out, infact my bike runs pretty well until I'm riding slow technical stuff.
I'm thinking blocked jet? But choke doesn't improve things,
It's got new Spark plug but still doing it,
Could it be fuel? Could it be coil? Or safety neutral switch?

Just thought I'd post to see if anyone has had same issue and could shed some light before I start taking it apart! Thanks.

Clean your carb out first. Make sure there are no splits in the carb/airbox rubbers too.

Check for holes/spits in the diaphragm.

Make sure you clean out that crappy filter under the Float valve. They gunk up.

See if that helps first I reckon..

remove the carb, open and clean. The most importan is to remove the filter inside the carb, its underneath the float there is a screw, remove and pull out the brass needle valve. Check inside gastank if the filters are in place. Check the Diaphragm Assembly when you have carb out, check the Joint Carb for wear.

Slow writing didnt see Teds, better with two than none..

Thanks for advice, fuel tank was running very low on reserve day before the spluttering started.

Check the air filter. It's probably blocked with oil that gets thrown out the breather. It'll cut like this for a few months then suddenly not rev over 3000. Easiest way is to take the filter out fully and see if it improves before fitting a fresh one.

Have you been over filling the oil?

Running the gunge from the bottom of your tank can block the gauze filter in the needle valve. Filtered or not. It doesn't take much to block it. Throw it out...
