Anyone tried fitting a clamp on air filter on an XT?
I got this crazy idea ,I pulled out the air box on my 94 yamaha xt600e.I gutted it out.I want to install a pair of clamp on K&N air filters and totally eleminate the air box and build and bracket to hold the battery.Have anyone tried this before.Or should I just put everything back just the way it was.

It'll work fine as long as you take care with the jetting. However, I'd not recommend this approach if you use it off road and go through a lot of water as K&N's can get soaked wet to the point they will cause the engine to run very rough. I used to run a DT175 with a K&N fitted and after going through deep water I'd regularly have to take it off and blow it dry using the exhaust!
