AG 200...will it make it???

anyone know if this robust little unit can hack an africa overland? been reading about it and sounds like pretty solid machine for the endeavor....we don't care about going fast, but slightly worried about it handling so many kms. with such a small # of HP...?

Hi. If we are talking about agri bikes, I asked a similar question a while back, read the answers here.

Actually....and I am going to be flamed for this... These smaller 4str bikes are much better suited to this provided 1) dont load it to it's max. 2) dont try and ride it at highway speeds all day or treat it like it was a large DS.

Why?

They aren't nearly as taxing to ride when the going gets rough
they are economical
with exception aren't over-tuned and have high tolerences so can sustain quite a lot of abuse, (take a look at compression at only 8.7:1)
In day to day african riding will be as quick as a larger bike

want proof.

look at what the locals ride.

Downside:

They do not have great range between fuel stops. In fact it's pretty poor unless you change from the supplied 10L tanks

I agree with what you said 110% Dude!

In fact, I wish I had the money to get one and I would probably (99% certain) Trade in my XT600 for one.

I think so

I met a guy in Alaska on a 1980s Ag 200 he had fe-furbed himself, he was in his 70's and had just ridden up from Argentina solo.....Respect is due! The only problem he had was top gear had gone.
