Abandoned XT600 with missing front end

Someone dumped an XT600 1993 model in front of our shop in Brooklyn, NY. It came with no front end which had been uncerimoniously removed along with the rear caliper, right footpeg and master cylinder.

Now what? VIN number is JYA3UYE03PA018307. Titled in NY but has no plates. Anyone know anything about it please let me know.

Given its current status what options for front ends are there?

You could put on any front end...here's how. I would sugest a set of WP4860 forks from a late model KTM. They are easy to find on E-bay for a reasonable price. That and a KTM tripleclamp, you only need a steering spindle adapted to your particular bearings. This is a one hour job at a competent machine shop. From there, the posabilities for wheels and brakes are nearly endless, plus you'll have kick-ass suspension. You will most likely need a new set of springs to match the weight of the bike and rider, it's always hard to tell whats in the fork in the first place and it's best to start fresh. This is what i did to my R100GS...huge improvement in handeling and brakes :)
