95 xt fuel tank size

Hey all;

New guy here with a question.I'am looking at a 95 xt.It was the last year that they imported it to the states.. My question, did yamaha make the fuel tank on the 95 larger? And if so, how much more fuel does it hold? Thank you all for any help you can give me..

Hey jocflier,
My 94 U.S. model xt600e held about 3.5 gallons. I think the U.S. 95 model had the same tank. You can get a larger tank for it from touratech (an acerbis of apx. 20 ltr.). My old xt was pretty reliable, it had about 40,000 hard km on it when I sold it and never had a single problem that wasn't caused by the "expert" mechanics at L.A. Yamaha.
Best of Luck,
Nate

I also have a '95. I got the Acerbis 20ltr tank thru Touratech. The web site for the US distributor is http://www.cycoactive.com/

Acerbis sells a 23ltr tank also that they list for the '95 on but I don't know if that tank fits the US version. I do know that the 20ltr fits, tho.

Question about tank modification

Forschmiedt

Thanks for attaching the photos of your xt600 with the acerbis tank. It looks really good. I am considering doing something similar and I was hoping you could answer a couple of questions about your project.

One of the reasons I am considering changing the tank is that the scoops that fit around the tank are missing on my bike. So first question: Is there any down side to not having the scoops?

Second question. I noticed that the seat had changed appearance and that it there appeared to be a gap between the front of the seat and the back of the tank. Care to comment?

Last question (promise) I noticed from the picture that there was a triangular, or pie wedge shaped area on the side where the tank meets the seat. Is this part of the tank, or is it a new panel that you have made to fit a hole.

Anyways, I really liked the look of your bike and was hoping you could shed some light on how you went about it.
