93 XT charging problems

I am currently in Rabat, the XT would not start from the electric start or the fitted kickstart. A jump lead start got the bike going and after a 150ks run with no headlights running the battery has charged enough to start the bike. Is the generator needing replaced or regulator.

Thanks

in the worst case both.
first make sure that the battery is o.k.
let the engine rev at 5000.
measure the voltage at the red cable from regulator to battery. it should measure something around 14 V, but not very much less than this.
check cable connetions of battery.
good luck,
klaus
