87 xt 1vj how does the seat mount on??
 

sounds like a dumb question but my xt came as abox of bits and after rebuilding it im unsure as to how the seat in retained on the bike.
hook at the front obviously hooks into the frame and then my seat has a metal bracket on each side at the back.there are two helet lock type assemblys on the frame, but both of these dont seem to line up?

presume you dont need a spanner to unbolt the back end of it? and you use the key to unlock the back of the seat??

it just doesnt seem to line up right.

if anyone could post a picture that would be great.....:confused1:

On my xt (2001) the seat hooks in at the front and then theres 2 holes on the back of the seat that fastens with 2 bolts from down under the rear fender and up into the seat..

On my 1VJ it a hook in front and one hole on each side at the back, left side is the helmet lock with key and right side helmet lock with a push button.

On my 89 1VJ there is a Tang on the undernath of the saddle that hooks on to a bracket below the Tank.
The rear of the saddle has 2 arms with holes that lock on to the frame with a helmet lock on side and a push buttom on one side.
